Ekstrom family papers, 1905-1986 (bulk 1905-1936).

The collection chronicles the personal story of the Ekstrom family through two generations in the early part of the 20th century, but also a larger story of middle class family life in Worcester during this time period. Many of the photos are candid in nature and illustrate family and social life during this time. Materials include photographs (bound and loose), cards, letters, Algot Ekstrom's sketches and other ephemera relating to the Lundquist Tool & Manufacturing Company; materials relating to the American Steel & Wire Co.; and the Swedish and Methodist communities active in Worcester during this time. The collection chronicles the early part of Algot's life, focusing on his hobbies of creating artistic renderings of many buildings in downtown Worcester as well as transcripts of many college football games from the mid 1920s through the early 1940s. Also includes materials kept by Lillian Ekstrom while a student at South High School as well as a scrapbook reflecting her time and training as a nursing student. Other subjects include the Methodist camp at Sterling, Mass., and the "E" Award, accepted by Algot Ekstrom from the U.S. Military on behalf of the workers at Lundquist Tool during World War II.

Swedish American Methodist family, of Worcester, Mass. Rollard Ekstrom married Edla Swenson in 1908. They lived at 17 Reeves St., in the Quinsigamond Village neighborhood of Worcester and also had a summer camp home in Shrewsbury, Mass., on Lake Quinsigamond. Rollard was employed at American Steel & Wire Co. through the mid-1920s. They had two children: Algot and Erling Ekstrom.
